SISU Thunderbirds Hockey Club will offer full-season TierII program that includes teams at the 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U.We pride ourselves in being a successful and growing pioneer in hockey activities that inspire character, leadership, development and enable successful experiences. Preparing players for the next level of hockey, including: travel, high school, junior, college and beyond. Our goal is to bring these elite players together and challenge them with top training, develop their skills, expose them to top competition, and continually stress the importance of their academics, so they will have the best opportunity to advance to the next levels both as a student and athlete.
Ages
SISU Thunderbirds Hockey Club will offer full-season TierII program that includes teams at the 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U.
As we continue to grow we will be looking to add programs that will include 10U teams, 8U teams and Learn-to-Play programs in the coming seasons.
2024-25 Season
Tryouts will take place April 22-26.
Once our rosters have been finalized the teams will begin practice in August. The regular season will conclude in March with the State tournament.
SISU Thunderbirds teams that win a State Championship would advance to Tier II Nationals extending the season into the first week of April.
Where
Practices and home games are typically held at Chiller Ice rinks located around columbus. Some teams will use the Battery Academy for small ice skills sessions and film review.
Practices
Teams practice 2-3 times per week. Some teams schedule film review in addition to on ice time.
Games
The number of competitive games and amount of travel will be determined by each coach, as a general rule, a parent can expect 40 to 65 games of league play, tournaments and non-league games over a seven-month season. U16 and U18 can expect to play a NAPHL schedule.
Teams typically schedule four to seven tournaments a season.
Extra Costs
Players who make the travel team must purchase team jerseys and socks. You will also have to purchase a team bag, white helmet, gloves that coordinate team colors, pant shells, jersey garment bag, and warm ups.
These costs are not included in the team fees and must be paid by each family upon ordering. Ordering is done with in the first few weeks after tryouts.
2024-2025 Season
Our club was thrilled with the exceptional turnout at our recent tryouts and the substantial interest in our program. This has led us to form a team at the 12U A level.
We are conducting a free tryout session to identify potential players to complete our roster for this team. This will take place on Wednesday, May 22nd at 5:30pm at Chiller North.
