Thunderbirds has partnered with Cohnhead Hockey to offerSummer Tournament Team and Skills Sessions . Justin Cohn the head coach of the Thunderbird College Prep team will run summer programming for Thunderbirds Hockey Club through his Cohnhead Hockey program. I’m thrilled to announce the creation of the Cohnhead Hockey Summer Tournament Teams for the 12U (2013/2014) and 14U (2011/2012) age groups. This initiative is designed to provide focused development and coaching opportunities for players within our Thunderbird organization. Our Cohnhead Hockey Tournament Teams will compete in both Pittsburgh and Niagara Falls. This will allow families, players, and myself to build strong relationships as we move forward. We will stay together as a group, providing an environment where every individual is fully invested in the success of the team and the growth of the Thunderbirds Hockey Club. My goal is to work directly with all players and families to ensure that every participant receives the attention they need to take their game to the next level. I am dedicated to helping players build valuable connections and find future opportunities in the game. This isn’t just about the tournament – it’s about providing a clear pathway for players to advance in their hockey careers. We have invested significant time and effort into creating a streamlined training and development plan for our players. This plan offers flexibility, access to training at no additional cost, and summer tournament teams that keep our Thunderbirds together, fostering team chemistry and fun.
Commitment to Skills Training:
I will guide Thunderbirds summer skills training sessions, which will take place after tryouts and conclude in late July. All 12U through College Prep level Thunderbirds players who accept roster spots with our program will have full access to these training sessions at no additional cost. This has been made possible by sponsors, fundraiser events, and donations. We will maintain the same format with two practice sessions per week for each age group, with each session being 1 hour long held at Chiller Easton. These sessions will also take place at the start of each week to avoid conflicts with lacrosse, baseball, and family activities that typically occur over the weekends.
Cohnhead Hockey Tournament Teams:
Cohnhead Hockey has secured spots for 12U (2013/2014) and 14U (2011/2012) teams to participate in two summer tournaments: the TCS Showcase in Pittsburgh, PA (May 16-18, 2025) and the TCS Showcase in Niagara Falls, NY (June 20-22, 2025). Roster spots for these teams will be offered exclusively to Thunderbirds players, allowing them to continue their development while playing with their friends and current teammates. The combination of skills development ice sessions and summer tournaments will provide players with a fantastic experience while continuing to build strong team chemistry and focus on player development in a supportive, familiar environment. The tournament team cost is $788, which will cover both tournaments.
